Hollywood Beach refers to the coastal areas in the city of Hollywood, Florida, a large community situated between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Located in Broward County near the tip of the vast peninsula that makes up the state, this Atlantic-facing beach offers access to one of the finest beach boardwalks in the United States. The boardwalk is a favorite with tourists booked into Holiday rentals in Hollywood Beach.
The Hollywood Beach Broadwalk
Known properly as the "Broadwalk" rather than the "Boardwalk," this boardwalk has been declared one of America's best beach boardwalks by Travel + Leisure magazine, and for good reason. The walkway is paved with bricks from end to end, providing an excellent surface for a variety of fun beach activities such as jogging, biking, and rollerblading -- though walking is the number one activity engaged in by both local residents and visitors.
Along the way, tourists can find a profusion of small cafs and eateries, most of them nestled in a village-like setting that lines the boardwalk. A favorite family activity here consists of parents enjoying a snack and a drink in one of the oceanfront restaurants, dining outside while the youngsters play in the sand just a few yards away. Two parks provide facilities for children that range from a play-in dolphin fountain to paddleball courts.
Be sure to visit on the weekend when Josh's Organic Market shows up on the south end of the Broadwalk to sell fresh vegetables as well as freshly mixed smoothies.
