Spain - Costa Blanca
Posted by John Whittingham on Wednesday, August 01, 2007 - 07:51

The Spanish Costa Blanca is one of the somewhat quieter and less developed Costas. Served by Alicante Airport, it stretches from Torrevieja (with the biggest salt lake in Europe) in the south, to Benidorm and beyond to the north. Plenty of activities and great for families, in fact more a family orientated area than for the young set.

Spain - Inland Costa del Sol
Posted by John Whittingham on Wednesday, August 01, 2007 - 07:28

The Inland area of the Spanish Costa del Sol is becoming ever more popular with the more experienced and discerning holidaymaker. Away from the hustle and bustle of the coastal Costas, the quiter much more relaxed pace of life, and even friendlier local inhabitants, make it the ideal getaway from it all location. Accommodation prices are lower, the quality is usually better, and food and drink is far cheaper, wether you dine in or out.

The Area
Posted by Ian Robbins on Wednesday, August 01, 2007 - 04:41

Barx and La Drova are situated in the high valley of La Safor, between the mountain ranges of Buixcarro and Monduver, at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level, and enjoys a pleasant climate. Barx forms part of the community of the Validigna 'Mancomunidad de la Validigna' made up of the villages of Tavernes, Simat, Benifairo and Barx. A territory with its own identity, united by common history. Our house is situated in the centre of La Drova approx. 4 min drive (20min walk) from the village of Barx with its many bars and shops including two small supermarkets, butchers, bakers, tobacconist, bank, chemist etc. There is a bar/restaurant just around the corner from our apartment and villa which is renowned for its Paellas and meat dishes.

Spain - for hours of sunshine - Summer and Winter
Posted by John Whittingham on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 - 10:33

Spain is the chosen location for the army of Europeans who purchase property there, either as an investment, or to become their eventual retirement home. Those properties are made available to holidaymakers at very reasonable prices, and as they are usually lovingly cared for by their owners, they make an ideal base for your holiday. Most properties have ensuite bathrooms, fully fitted kitchens, satellite TV, swimming pool, and often an outside kitchen, as well as a BBQ. Many more experienced and discerning holidaymakers now seek to rent properties slightly inland from the Coast, to avoid the busy hustle and bustle of the resorts, and where prices are even lower. We are talking up to 30 to 45 minutes inland, still easy to get to the beach if you wish, but where you can enjoy the slower pace of life and the beautiful countryside.

Costa Blanca Denia
Posted by MICHELE STRAVER on Friday, March 16, 2007 - 19:56

Denia provides a true taste of Spanish life with its fishing boats in the harbour, overlooked by an age-old fort. In the town and on the seafront, there are restaurants and bars catering for all tastes with some bars staying open all night! Further along the coast is Javea, an old established resort. The dominating feature in Javea is Mount Montgo ''Elephant Mountain'' which protects the town and is responsible for its very mild climate. The town breaks down into three main areas, the old town, the port and Arenal beach, which is very shallow and safe for young children to swim in.

Wonderful Spain
Posted by Steve & Sandra Heninghem on Sunday, February 11, 2007 - 14:04

From snow-capped mountains and lush green valleys in the North, to the sun-baked beaches of the South and three vastly different coastlines, it is difficult to imagine anyone being unable to find his or her ideal holiday here. Spanish cultures result from a melting-pot of influences from other European races (notably, the Moors) throughout history and each region has its own special feel. It is the birthplace of such great artists as Picasso & Dalí and scene of triumphs in architecture, food, music & dance, providing a host of delights for the visitor. Wherever you are in Spain, you can't help but notice the infectious enthusiasm for life. In the cities there is always something happening, especially at fiesta times and there is always the pleasure of a round of tapas, with a glass of one of the many Spanish wines. In the countryside it is easy to immerse oneself in the sights & sounds of unspoilt nature. No wonder this is the second most visited country in the world.

Javea
Posted by Mary & Alan Thornton on Wednesday, February 07, 2007 - 10:56

Javea is a popular holiday resort for families and the old town has maintained it’s whitewashed buildings and narrow streets combined with the nightly fish markets in the port, Javea reflects an unspoilt part of Spain.
