There is more than fun in the sun available in Destin, located along the Gulf Coast of Florida. The Emerald Coast Science Center, designed to stimulate the creativity of children, offers an opportunity to play with giant-sized bubble wands and features the Castle of Mirrors to explore the wonders of light and reflection. At the Destin History and Fishing Museum, visitors can see Ernest Hemingway’s personal rod and reel and study examples of the kinds of fish available to anglers in the waters near the city. Arts and crafts are available at Fired Up on the Miracle Strip Parkway. Here, tourists can try their hands at making pottery, with over 100 different starter designs available to get them started.
Those who feel the need to be more active can visit Destin Laser Tag, located upstairs in the Sunsations complex. Even bigger thrills are available at Eurobungy, which features trampolines equipped with bungee cords. Tourists here can jump up to 20 feet in the air, with some leaping even higher.
Gator Beach, on the other hand, allows visitors to experience the kind of danger native to the local area. Over 100 alligators are on display; from 11am to 5pm, daily guests can feed them. The attraction, including feeding times, is completely free, though a small fee will apply if guests want to have their photo snapped while holding an actual live alligator.
Destin vacation rentals are abundant. Best of all, many of them offer easy access to the beaches that first made this city famous.
