Lake Elsinore refers to both an inland lake and a city in Riverside County, California. The Elsinore Grand Prix
Lake Elsinore has long been famous throughout California for its local grand prix race, which refers in this case to a race consisting of dirt bikes. During the 1960s and 1970s, celebrities such as Steve McQueen participated in the Elsinore Grand Prix. As the race has always followed an open format, anyone and everyone is welcome to participate. The motion picture On Any Sunday, directed by Bruce Brown, popularized the grand prix even further by using actual footage of the races.
The Elsinore Grand Prix is an annual event, with races usually scheduled to take place in the middle of November. Although the event was cancelled for some years, it is now back and has evolved into a family-based activity.
Lake Elsinore Outlet Mall
Lake Elsinore also stands out as one of the first places in California to host an outlet mall. The Lake Elsinore Outlet Mall first opened in the late 1990s; it is still in operation today and offers visitors and locals the chance to buy name brand merchandise at discounted prices. Popular stores in the mall offer goods such as clothing, perfumes, garden equipment, electronics, and books.
