Lake Hartwell is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Southeastern United States . Interstate 85 bisects Lake Hartwell making it easily accessible. Fed by two rivers right out of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the water in Lake Hartwell is reported to be purer than in many municipal water systems. Lake Hartwell covers a land area of 56,000 acres and has 962 miles of shoreline. Outdoor water related recreation opportunities abound on Lake Hartwell appealing to boaters of all kinds, whether their specialty is sailing, motor boating, water-skiing, jet-skiing, canoeing, kayaking, or fishing. Coves and vast areas of quiet water provide the water skier with excellent surfaces on which to pursue his sport. Having a depth of up to 200 feet, the 21 species of edible fish in the lake have plenty of room to navigate. Large mouth bass, black crappie, bluegill bream, hybrid bass and walleyed pike are abundant. White bass, striped bass and pickerel are also found in substantial numbers.
