LA GRANDE MAISON :

A very attractive manor house, in rural surroundings, that has been owned by the same family since the 16th century. It has recently been completely renovated and redecorated to a high standard. The owners have taken a great deal of care in retaining the warm atmosphere of its gracious past by enhancing the original beams and woodwork throughout.

The kitchen is separated from the large dining room by a bar, and both the sitting and the dining room have a working fireplace. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor, both of which have an ensuite shower room, and off the kitchen there is a laundry room and some steepish stairs leading down to the very spacious summer kitchen, which leads onto the terrace and pool area.

The first floor comprises one very large double bedroom and a twin bedroom, both of which have their own bathroom or shower room adjoining.

The manor is only a few minutes' drive from the pretty town of St Cyprien. Clinging to a hillside on the northern side of the River Dordogne, the town is dominated by the massive outlines of its Gothic church. A visit to the Sunday market is essential for those who want to buy the freshest local produce. A short drive will take you to various châteaux perched high up above the river, Beynac and Castelnaud being the better known; continue a little further and you can visit the medieval town of Sarlat and the enchanting little village of Domme, with its caves that run under the village and its magnificent views over the valley.
