Lune Mill River House is over 100 years old, located on the edge of world heritage wilderness. Fronting onto Lune River, this is a rustic (not luxurious) escape for peace and tranquility. Comfortable, with lots of hot water, tv/vcr and huge fireplace
Lune Mill River House is on the edge of world heritage wilderness, absolute waterfront to Lune River. 150km from Hobart airport you will need a car to get there and buy supplies along the way.
The nearest town of any size is Dover where one can often buy a fresh crayfish and other fish from the yacht club. There is a tavern near Southport beach (7km) which serves meals, sells petrol and some groceries. The Historic railway (approx 2km) at Lune has a cafe and the Hastings caves with hot spring water swimming pool (approx 7km) also has a cafe and barbecue area which is just wonderful even in the middle of winter.
In the area there is bushwalking, looking for semi precious stones, fishing, gathering mussels and oysters, caving and if you have a kayak bring it with you.
Or just sit on your private jetty with a fishing line and a glass of wine and imagine that you are the only persons in the world. If you consider bringing children please be aware of the water frontage.
At the house we have an open fire and woodbox heating and a huge working kitchen overlooking the river. Plenty of hot water, TV, DVD, VCR and comfortable beds in three bedrooms. No telephone provided however CDMA phones work there.
