LOCATION AND NEARBY SITES
La Chauviniere is located 2 miles west of Chateau-Renault(5000 inhabitants, 2 supermarkets, pharmacy, cinema, doctors, newsagent) which is on the N10 road , halfway between Vendôme (30 mns)and Tours (30 mns,center of the Loire Valley).
All main castles of the Loire valey are between 30 and 60 mns from La Chauvinière: Chambord, Blois, Chaumont, Chenonceaux,Amboise,Villandry, Langeais, Ussé, Chinon etc.
Famous vineyards are also nice to visit (and taste!): Vouvray, Bourgueil, Chinon
LE CHATEAU
Initially built in the 15th century as a priory (small detached abbey for a dozen monks), at a time when they could choose the best environment (and view!), it has been enlarged in the following century.
The main floor has a drawing-room (with high quality stereo), desk-room ( with high speed internet connection, fax and printer), dining-room and kitchen. It has been redone in the late 18th century, with wood paneling and wood floor. It is decorated with antiques and paintings.
The drawing-room overlooks the valley and its lake. The dining-room has view over the gardens and park.
The basement has kept its original Salle basse (large kitchen)and salle de gardes of the 15th century with beamed ceiling, tile floor and huge chimneys.
The upper floor has 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and a library equipped with video, DVD and CD equipment, with lots of DVD'S,CD'S , books, board games and puzzles. The decoration of this floor is late 18th and 19th century style.
The kitchen include full services of dishes, glasseware, cutlery and all cooking utensiles. All bed and table linens and bath and pool towels are provided.
A separate laundry room is equipped with washing machine, dryer, and ironing facilities.
The terrace outside is equipped with a large table and chairs for dining. Resting chairs are inviting for watching the view of the small valley and lake with its numerous animals: birds (herons, kingfishers, falcons), beavers, sheep of the property, and sometimes at dusk roe-deers coming to drink.
