The Area
Enjoy a relaxing break in a peaceful rural location, all within easy reach of beautiful beaches, stunning cliff-top walks and a unique nature reserve and wildfowl habitat.
If you are energetically inclined you can also find a number of sporting facilities, including a first class 18 hole links golf course just a few minutes away. Three new Championship golf courses are under development within easy reach of the condominium, ensuring preservation of the open rural aspect which the area enjoys, as well as superb sporting facilities for keen golfers.
There are activities available to suit most tastes, with walks to suit all levels of fitness featuring miles of breathtaking coastal paths as well as mountain and countryside tracks. If desired guided walks can be booked with a leading expert on walking in the Algarve who is the author of several books on the subject. Information can be provided on request.
For birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts the Salgados Marsh wildlife reserve, Ribiera Alcantarilha estuary, and a little further afield the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, provide endless opportunities, while the mountain hinterland, just a short trip away, provides a completely different natural habitat. Field trips to suit all needs can be booked with an English ornithologist with 18 years experience in the area.
Keen photographers and artists will enjoy the startlingly clear light, magnificent coastal and rural scenery and picturesque towns and villages, while for people interested in learning more about arts and crafts visits can be arranged to the studios of well-known local art teachers and craft specialists.
For people with an interest in complete relaxation combined with alternative therapies, Caldas de Monchique provides one of the Algarve’s most idyllic spots to relax and offers a wide range of relaxing and healing treatments that have been in existence here since Roman times.
The Algarve offers a wide range of cultural and entertainment events to suit all tastes, plus other attractions ranging from traditional local markets to international sporting events of the highest standard.
Of particular interest to children will be Zoomarine, on the EN125 about half way between Guia and Aldeia Antiga and Krazy World Animal Kingdom and Entertainment Park, about 6 kilometres away from both Guia and Aldeia Antiga, to the north of Algoz. In addition there are several water parks within a short distance of
each location.
A monthly calendar of what's on and other local
information will be provided.
For maximum enjoyment of your holiday, car hire is recommended and is essential at Aldeia Antiga.
Eating Out
The village of Guia is famous as the home of chicken piri-piri, and the local area, as throughout the Algarve, offers a wide range of local Portuguese specialist and international epicurean restaurants, including an international food court at Algarve Shopping on the EN125 on the outskirts of Guia. The area is also home to the much acclaimed Algarvian "Vida Nova" wine from the Guia vineyard of Sir Cliff Richard. We will be pleased to provide recommendations for excellent places to eat on request. In short, you can enjoy a wide range of activities all year, or alternatively just lay back, relax and let the peace and tranquillity wash over you. In summer the Portuguese climate is legendary, in winter the Algarve enjoys the mildest, sunniest weather in Europe, allowing you to escape from the worst of the British weather to a much more pleasant climate that enables you to pursue your favourite activities, even if that involves just relaxing with a good book.
