Treefrog riverhouse
Treefrog is a delightful river house oasis,
Kids and pets can enjoy the one-acre garden while you entertain in the shade of the majestic towering redwoods or just read a good book on one of the sun decks overlooking the lazy river.
Both bedrooms have unique artistic design, queen size pillow top beds, small closets and a 75 channel TV with DVD player.
There is a loft above the smaller bedroom with a mattress pad and pillows, not much headroom but kids think it’s a cool little osprey nest. The large sectional sofa also is so comfortable that some guest’s prefer to sleep in the living room in front of the fireplace.
The living room/dining room is very spacious with vaulted wood ceilings, large dining table and six chairs, accent lighting and original artwork throughout the house created by the owner. From the living room and bathroom you can access the upper redwood deck that spans the riverfront side of the house, a large picnic table and comfortable chairs make for a nice outside summer dining. The hot tub and sheltered BBQ are also on the riverside of the deck, with an additional gas BBQ at the entrance area in the dry season for cooking closer to the kitchen.
The kitchen has everything you will need to feel at home except food, coffee is in the freezer. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub, separate shower and plenty of towels. Older beach towels are stored in the laundry area with the washer/dryer. The house is equipped with a new on-demand water heater so the last person in doesn’t have to worry about getting a cold shower.
Treefrog house has one of the easiest access paths to the river in Monte Rio, just 25 feet from the lower deck is the entrance to the winding steps down a very gradual slope to the water.
This path is usually under water from January to March so kayaking isn’t advisable during that time; from April to December guest’s can use any of the boats Treefrog supplies. 2 single person sit-in kayaks, 1 tandem ocean kayak and one 3-4-person canoe are included with the rental.
From June to November the water at the base of the path is between 1-2 feet deep and you can walk across to the island in the middle of the river with your beach chairs. Closer to the other side of the river the water is deep enough to swim in. In the summer and fall the current is generally slow enough to paddle upstream.
On 4th of July enjoy Monte Rio’s fireworks in privacy from the hot tub, BBQ area and spacious lawn; view the activities at the public beach from the river island or walk there in 5 minutes.
The riverside of the property is extremely private; all of the homes in view are vacation rentals and are very well kept.
There are no houses on the right side of the house for half a mile and the closest house on the left is called Riverwood Cottage, about 150 feet away.
There is convenient parking for three cars on the roadside of the house and a gated lower parking area for two cars (4 WD needed in the winter for lower parking).
Winter can be enchanting for a lover’s weekend getaway, the large fireplace heats the house up fast and you probably won’t want to use the internet or free nationwide calling after soaking in the Jacuzzi tub and feeling like all of your worries have washed away with the river.
