We welcome you to our historic family home we call BY THE SEA in the Wianno Club area of the Village of Osterville. As you drive through the winding country roads of the Village of Osterville, you step back in time to a simpler, relaxing way of life.

The quintessential Cape greets you with lovely window boxes, sun-filled rooms, modern kitchen appliances and a private fenced yard perfect for your family pet.

We provide all the linens, silverware, paperware, dinnerware, pots, pans, etc. and the foregoing is brand new, purchased at Pottery Barn and Bed and Bath.

My wife is a clean freak and she maintains our home in perfect sparkling condition. We provide everything down to the soap and dryer sheets so that all you need is personal toiletries, clothes, and groceries.

We want your stay to be relaxing and enjoyable and you will find our home has all the modern conveniences you have in your own home. With that said, our home has a comfortable living room with Directv large screen HDTV including 250 channel package with one movie channel and Pay Per View, HD DVD, and a CD AM/FM stereo system for your listening enjoyment. If you are vacationing during early May, late September, or October there are some chilly nights where the fireplace will be welcome and we provide seasoned hardwood logs that stay lit and burn over a long time.

The kitchen has all your modern conveniences with high-end appliances including a french door refrigerator, Thermador SS dishwasher, and Jenn-Aire stove/oven. There is also a microwave and coffee maker. The cabinets are filled with both traditional plates and paper goods and cups. We provide everything inlcuding paper towels.

There is a formal dining room that can be used to enjoy a casual supper or perhaps just a card game. Also on the first floor is the master bedroom with a Spring Air Back Supporter queen size mattress and box spring. This is a medium firm mattress that provides terrific support and a change from the typical rental's worn out mattresses.

The bedroom has a separate sitting room with cozy leather furniture. The sitting room can be closed off from the bedroom and hallway areas. If you just want to read, catch a few ZZZZs, this is the place to go. In a pinch, a visitor can sleep here for a good night's rest.

Upstairs, there are two good size bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen size bed, television and gets a fair amount of sunlight. This bedroom has direct access to the half bath. The other bedroom has two twin beds in a good size room where one would not feel cramped.

There are new front-loading Whirpool Duet washer/dryer in the basement for your convenience. We have window operated A/C units should there be a heat wave. Typically, being just a few blocks from the water, it is always quite comfortable by evening hour.

Unlike many other areas on the Cape, the Village of Osterville has maintained its country charm absent of commercial businesses and fast food establishments. The Village has many small shops, yet it is relatively close and only a fifteen minute drive to the numerous mall shopping offered in Hyannis.

The Village has miles of safe roads, perfect for walking or taking that bicycle ride yet completely free of the Route 28 traffic associated with many other Cape Cod communities.

There is the largest privately owned park, Armstrong-Kelley park centrally located offering free public access to its over 8 wooded acres. Our home can serve as your jumping off point for many day trips, but at the end of your busy day, allowing you to return to the quiet “By The Sea” comfort. When you return home, you can enjoy a family board game, book, or read one of our guide books to plan tomorrow’s activities.

We are just a short ten minute walk to Dowes Beach or easy parking if you decide to load up the car with beach chairs. Dowes Beach is well-known for its warm Nantucket Sound water and vast sugar sand beach.

We are quite convenient to several pristine national seashore beaches. We provide you with a free National Parks-Seashore Pass. The pass will allow you entry into any of the several National Seashore beaches.

Our two favorite beaches are Coast Guard and Race Point. Both beaches are always clean, with clean bathroom facilities, outdoor showers, and are well-maintained. The water can be a bit rough as compared with the local beach, Dowes Beach.

To assist you with some day trip ideas, we have a selection of guide books.

Please feel free to setup one of the outdoor games such as badminton. In the evening, I suggest you have a look at our wide selection of board games. When was the last time you played Monopoly?

Outside, we built a new cobble patio that provides a good amount of room to entertain and enjoy outdoor grilling on a gas grill. The yard which is completely fenced is shaded by a large variety of old growth mature trees. If you have a family dog, he or she will be right at home in the back yard, more so when you have food on the grill!

Rental Policy

We have a no smoking house. We do not allow large groups or functions. Our home is pet friendly and your dog is welcome without any extra charges or deposit.

With that said, our home has excellent furnishings which are new and we expect the home to be spotless as it was when you arrived. It is important that you arrive and start your vacation with a clean home!

Additional Rate and Deposit Information

My wife and I have two rental rates for the season, Shoulder and Peak. Our property rents from Sunday to Sunday because we have two summer rentals and my wife prefers to do her own inventory, inspections, and cleaning. There is not sufficient time to perform all that is required on both houses during the same day.

The EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT Saves You $400 off our regular weekly rental rates. This offers you substantial savings and benefits us as owners, by allowing us to book all of our weeks by April 10, 2009.

Thus, Book Early, Save a Bundle and Pay Later!

My wife and I recognize this year as being more difficult on families and we are all being more careful with spending money, including what we spend on our valued vacations. With that said, our home rents for $2495 per week in Peak Season (July & August) and our Shoulder weeks are $1795/wk. But now with our discount, you will only pay $1395/wk or $2095/wk peak, which truly is great value for an Osterville vacation home!

PLEASE NOTE: We are almost fully booked; therefore, we only have a handful of weeks left to rent. Please inquire on availability.


SHOULDER SEASON RATE: (May, June, Sept after 9/13/09) Regular Rent is $1795/wk with Discount only $1395/wk. SAVE $400/wk! (Must book by 4/10/09).

PEAK SEASON RATE: (July, August, Sept. to 9/13/09) Regular Rent is $2495/wk with Discount $2095/wk. All room taxes and fees are included. SAVE $400/wk! (must book by 4/10/09).


PLEASE NOTE: We operate a pet friendly home, so please bring your family pet and enjoy your stay. There are no additional pet charges or deposits required. With that said, my wife maintains a spotless home and the furnishings are of excellent quality.
