Massais
Has a well-stocked shop and a friendly bar/tabac. Just out of the village the BOIS JOLIE restaurant offers an excellent inexpensive 4 course lunch time plat de jour and an equally good value evening menu.
There is also a creamery in Massais, the last of its kind in the region, a privately owned farmers cooperative using local milk to produce butter and cream, which you can buy from their little dairy shop.

Thouars
The nearest major town. The Tuesday and Friday market is not to be missed, it’s not put on especially for the tourists, it is a genuine French country market. The old part of the town is very attractive with a good assortment of small shops, restaurants, and bars where you can sit on the pavement and watch the world, and the locals, go by.

Bressuire
Has well stocked shops, freindly bars and resturants, a cinema and everything else you would expect in a modern striving and stylish town.

Argenton Chateau
A pretty, small town, has a good, well stocked supermarket, boulangeries, bank, tourist office, garage, post office, etc., also swimming pool, tennis courts, volley ball courts, bob luge, and the Lac d’Hautibus, with its’ cool tree covered walks and picnick areas, with a small sandy beach for the children.

Pont de Grifferus
The other end of the gorge from MOULIN BERNARD. Just a pretty place to park and take a picnic, paddle in the river, explore the river bank, go walking, take a book and a bottle of wine. It’s T.T. ---- Total Tranquillity.

Additional Rate and Deposit Information

1. General
Clients applying to hire property are referred to as 'the Applicants' until such time as they take up residence when they are referred to as 'the Tenants'. Please use the send email facility contained within website for booking enquires.
2. Deposit
If a booking is made eight weeks or more before the tenancy is due to start, it must be accompanied by a deposit of 50% of the booking price. If a booking is made less than eight weeks before arrival, the full rent, plus any additional charges, must be paid at the time of booking. In the event of a booking not being accepted, all fees paid will be refunded immediately.
3. Final Payment
Once the booking is received and accepted, the Applicants are liable for payment of the balance of rent, plus any additional charges, eight weeks before the start of the tenancy. Non-payment by the due date will be treated as a cancellation and a cancellation charge will be payable as listed in the table in paragraph 4. Argentonholidays does not send reminders the balance due date is on the Booking Confirmation.
4. Changing a booking/Cancellation
The holiday dates may be changed providing the property is available for the new dates in the event a £15 re-booking fee is payable. All cancellations must be notified in writing or email within seven days of the event causing cancellation.
Argenton Holidays operate a Cancellation Plan whereby the Full Payment, less a £15 administration charge, is refunded in the event of cancellation due to death, injury, illness, or a summons for Jury Service of any member of the party, or close relatives or business associates of the Applicant which, in the opinion of the Argenton Holidays, reasonably prevents the Applicants from being able to take up the booking made. Close relatives mean Husband, Wife, Father, Mother, Father-in-Law, Mother-in-Law, Brother, Sister and Children. The Cancellation Plan does not cover pregnancy or associated illness. Any illness or injury which, in the opinion of the Argento Holidays, is insufficiently serious to prevent the person taking the holiday is not covered under the Cancellation Plan, nor does it cover cancellations arising from illness or medical
conditions known at the time of making the booking. Upon receiving written confirmation of the cancellation, the Argenton Holidays will send out a Cancellation Form which must be completed in full by a doctor and returned within 28 days of notice of the cancellation. If the claim under the Cancellation Plan is accepted by the Argenton Holidyas, then no further payment is due and all previous payments, less the £15 administration charge, will be refunded in full. Please note that the Argenton Holidays must be informed of a cancellation prior to the start of the holiday. Events occurring after midnight prior to the commencement date of the holiday as stated on the Booking Form are not covered under the Cancellation Plan. Should
the cancellation be for reasons not covered by the Plan, then a cancellation charge will be payable based on the number of days before the holiday start date the cancellation is received in the Argenton Holidays office in writing and is as specified in the table that follows:

The cost of the Cancellation Plan is part of the rent and Applicants are automatically covered on acceptance of their booking.
5. Price Changes
The Argenton Holidays reserve the right to amend prices quoted in the brochure due to errors or omissions.
6. Method of Payment
All payments should be made via moneybookers.com (See icon at foot of page). Otherwise payments
may be made by cheque, bank transfers, postal order or cash. Cheques or postal orders should be made
payable to (details supplied when email confirmation sent by 'Argenton Holidays') and cash should always
be sent by registered post. Post-dated cheques are not acceptable. Any charges raised against the Argenton Holidays by their bank for handling dishonoured cheques or bank transfers will be passed on to the Applicants who are liable to reimburse the Argenton Holidays in respect of such charges within 7 days of receipt of notification from the Argenton Holidays. Should a payment fail to be honoured, then the Applicant must revert to paying the deposit and balance as outlined in paragraphs 2 and 3.
7. Overseas Bookings
Overseas applicants should make payments via moneybookers.com (details supplied when email confirmation sent by 'Argenton Holidays') or may pay by Sterling cheque drawn on a UK bank. Any charges for payments from overseas will be passed on to the Applicants.
8. The Tenancy
The tenancy confers upon the Tenants the. right to occupy for a holiday within the meaning of Schedule "
Paragraph 9 of the Housing Act 1988.
9. Tenants' Obligations
The Tenants agree:
a. All gas, electricity charges are paid for in the rent unless overused by double or more of average normal usage incurred during a tenancy, whereby an extra charge will be levied decide by Argenton Holidays.
b. To pay for any losses or damages to the property, caused by the Tenant or a member of their party (reasonable wear and tear excluded) unless the cost of making good such loss or damage can be fully
recovered under any householder's insurance policies maintained by the Owners.
c. To take good care of the property and leave it in a clean and tidy condition at the end of the tenancy.
d. To permit the Owners and the Agents reasonable access to the property.
e. Not to part with possession of the property, or share it, except with members of the party shown on
the Booking.
f. Not to exceed the total number of people stipulated in the property description. A cot if supplied may
only be occupied by a child aged 24 months or less.
g. Not to cause an annoyance or become a nuisance to occupants of adjoining premises.
10. Duration and Times of Letting
Lettings are for a maximum of four weeks and commence at 3.00 pm on the first day of the tenancy and
end at 10.00 am on the day of departure unless otherwise notified. This ensures that the Owner or
Housekeeper has time to prepare the property for incoming guests and your co-operation in this matter
will contribute towards a trouble-free changeover. The period booked cannot be exceeded unless the
Argenton Holidays give written approval. The Tenants will be liable for any cost of whatsoever nature incurred because of an unauthorised extension.
11. Non-availability of Property
If for any reason beyond the Owners' control the property is not available on the date booked (owing to
fire damage for example), or the property is unsuitable for holiday letting, all rent and charges paid in
advance by the Applicants will be refunded in full, but the Applicants shall have no further claim against
Argenton Holidays.

Argenton Holidays do not accept liability for any act, neglect or default on the part of the Owners or any other
person not within their employ or otherwise under their control, nor for any accident, damage, loss, injury, expense or inconvenience, whether to person or property, which the Tenants or any other person may suffer or incur arising out of, or in any way connected with the letting. In addition, the Owner accepts no liability for loss of or damage to the Tenants' possessions on the Owners' property or land.
13. Descriptions
Some of the information in the Argenton Holidays Web Site Brochures relates to matters beyond the
properties such as shops and public houses. Closure of such premises and other changes to external
facilities are outside the Agent's control and therefore these details cannot be relied upon absolutely.
14. Complaints
All complaints must be notified to the Argenton Holidays immediately so that an on-the-spot investigation can be made if necessary and remedial action taken if required. In no circumstances will compensation be made
for complaints raised after the tenancy has ended when the Tenant has denied the Argenton Holidays or the Owners the opportunity of investigating the complaint and endeavouring to put matters right during the tenancy.
15. Pets
Pets are not permitted.
16. Inventory
Where an inventory is provided, any discrepancies are to be reported to the Owner or the Housekeeper within 24 hours of arrival, otherwise the inventory will be deemed to be correct.
17. Linen
Linen is changed between tenancies washing/drying facilities are supplied. Towels and table cloths are
not provided and Tenants should bring their own unless otherwise notified.
18. Breach of Contract
If there shall be a breach of any of these conditions by any of the Tenants, the Owners or Argenton Holidays
reserve the right to re-enter the property and terminate the tenancy without prejudice to the other rights
and remedies of the Owners.
19. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
The Contract is deemed to have been made when booking completed. The validity, construction and performance of this Agreement shall be governed by English law. The Applicants and the Tenants submit
to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
20. Authority to Sign
The person who completes the Booking Form certifies that:
a. He or she is authorised to agree the Booking Conditions on behalf of all persons included on the
Booking including those substituted or added at a later date.
b. The signatory is over eighteen years of age and a member of the party intending to occupy the property.
c. Agrees to take responsibility for the party occupying the property.
21. Discrepancies
In case of a discrepancy between these Booking Conditions and any other contents of a Argenton Holidays Brochure, these conditions shall prevail.
22. Previous Details
These Booking Conditions replace and supercede all previous Booking Conditions.
23. Validity Clause
If any term or provision in these Booking Conditions shall in whole or in part be held to any extent to be illegal or unenforceable under any enactment or rule of law that term or provision or part shall to that extent be deemed not to form part of this agreement and the enforceability of the remainder of this agreement shall not be affected
