Bring your binoculars, relax on the deck and enjoy the migrating birds and butterflies, or the herons and egrets in the lagoons beside the house. Well behaved dogs, on leashes, are welcome on the beach and you will meet many of the neighbors walking their pets in the morning. Kayaking, crabbing, and fishing are popular pastimes in this older, quiet subdivision.
Just to the west of SurfSide is the 4000 acre Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge and to the east is historic Fort Morgan. Gulf Shores is only 13 miles down the road with world-class restaurants, 24-hour shopping, and award winning golf courses. Just two blocks from the Fort Morgan Highway you'll find the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, the "little zoo that could" from the renowned television series.
