The Cottage is a luxurious getaway nestled in the Adirondacks, just minutes from Whiteface Mountain, and a short, scenic drive to the Olympic Village of Lake Placid. It was built in 2005, and is privately set back off the road on 13 level wooded acres.
There are plenty of seasonal and year-round activities nearby, including downhill skiing, snowboarding, x-country skiing, ice climbing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, hockey, ice skating, snowshoeing, bobsledding, dog sled rides, luge, tobogganing, winter horseback riding, golf, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, tubing, water-skiing, fishing, inline skating, horseback riding, Santa’s Workshop, High Falls Gorge, spectator sporting events, antiquing, shopping in Lake Placid, fabulous restaurants, a town beach with a playground, picnic area, volleyball nets, and boating, and much more.
ON THE MAIN LEVEL...
The spacious and welcoming entry foyer leads to the large, open floor plan of the kitchen, dining room, and family room. The fully-equipped kitchen features a breakfast bar that seats 6. The dining room and family room have cathedral pine ceilings and an abundance of large windows looking out over the naturally wooded surroundings. The dining room table seats 8. In the family room you’ll find a large fieldstone fireplace, a 32” TV with satellite service and a DVD player. There are 2 sets of French doors leading out to the wrap-around deck from the family room and dining room. The deck is fully furnished with chaise lounge chairs, a table, chairs, and a full size grill for use in the summer months. In addition, there’s a screen porch just off the family room, with comfy porch furniture and a woodburning stove — perfect for those chilly Adirondack evenings. The main floor also has 1.5 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms that are 14’x14.’ Each of these bedrooms has 2 twin beds.
In-floor radiant heating warms the house nicely in the colder months, while ceiling fans throughout keep it comfortable in the summer.
UPSTAIRS...
An open stairway in the family room leads to the loft, which has a full size futon, overlooks the dining room and family room, and is approximately 14’x16.’ Behind the loft you’ll find a magnificent master suite with log furnishings, featuring a king size bed, reading nook with full size sofabed, lots of windows, skylights, and vaulted pine ceilings. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet that’s approximately 8’x9.’ On the other side of the closet is another bedroom that’s approximately 9’x16’ with 2 twin beds. The master suite also has a luxurious master bathroom with a 2-person champagne bubbling bathtub, large double shower, skylights, vanity and dressing table.
IN THE BASEMENT...
Down in the basement is the laundry room with 2 washers, 2 dryers, an ironing board, and an iron.
The house comes equipped with all bed and bath linens, 2 hair dryers, kitchen needs, and plenty of wood for the fireplace and woodburning stove.
