The Hale Makai Cottages are a true Private Beach Front Retreat with 250 feet of actual beachfront at Kepuhi Point on the North Shore of Kauai. All five cottages have unobstructed views of the ocean as well as onto the tropical and beautiful grounds of Hale Makai. Each cottage has its own private sitting area, deck and yard. Our guest consider us one of the best places on Kauai; Hale Makai remains untouched by modern tourism, the cottages are authentically Hawaiian and the beach is at the end of the lawn.
The Reef in front of Hale Makai brakes the big waves far out in the ocean. That make the immediate beach a terrific place to snorkel and swim as the ocean conditions allow. During low tide children enjoy the shallow waters under their parents supervision. A sun umbrella and lots of sunscreen is advised during prolonged play in the sun and digging in the sand. During all these activities, Kite Surfers often fly by, impressing our guests while they enjoy their peace and quiet.
Hale Makai represents everything one expects of the beauty of the Garden Island. The crisp ocean color, the white waves, the sound of the surf, the Trade Winds and the possibility to observe reef fish, turtles, seals, whales and sharks, all under the back drop of the majestic NaPali. Hale Makai wants to encourage all guests to help to preserve the natural environment surrounding us. We like our guests to treat the environment and wildlife with respect and admiration for the enjoyment of future generations.
Rental Policy
TO SECURE A BOOKING: In order to secure your booking we require a 50% deposit. The deposit is payable by personal check, money order, Visa, or MasterCard. The remainder of the payment is due 60 to 90 days prior to your arrival. In addition to the rental charges there is a $140.00 cleaning charge for one bedroom cottages and $160.00 cleaning charge for two bedroom cottages. This cleaning charge is to be paid directly to the Kauai Cleaning services once on the island. We require a $500.00 security deposit, which is due with the remainder of the rental payment. This security deposit is refundable within 2 weeks of check out in full, unless funds must be deducted to cover additional damages.
CANCELLATIONS: We must be notified in writing 60 to 90 days prior to arrival date. This is a 10% cancellation fee and a $35.00 processing fee for all cancellations made 60 to 90 days prior. You will be refunded all payments minus the above fees. After 60 to 90 days there is no cancellation or refund.
MINIMUM STAY: There is a 4 day minimum stay for all cottages, exceptions can be made if booking calendar permits
Arrival Times
CHECK IN / CHECK OUT: Check in time is 3:00pm, early check in needs to be arranged prior to arrival to insure that the cottage will be ready for you. Check out time is 10:00am, late check out some cases is available, however must be discussed prior to check out and will result in late check out fees. Non-permitted late check out will result in additional nightly rate charge per cottage.

PRICES: These prices are for all vacations during the 2007 and 2008 year. Rates may vary if you are interested is booking for future years. There is a $10.00 per night charge added to the nightly rate for each additional guest. The maximum capacity for our one bedroom cottages is 4 people and for our two bedroom is 6 people. At this time we do not offer a weekly rate.
