My family and I were extremely disappointed with the condition the home was in. Though it is a beautiful, spacious home modestly decorated, it is only superficially clean. Upon our arrival I inspected all linen and towels, much to my disgust I found that the towels were not only torn and worn to the point of having holes, but they smelled rancid and were discolored. The linen on the beds were dirty, the carpeting though vacuumed were visibly soiled and the shower were filled with mold and mildew
I immediately began to pull sheets off the beds and wash all towels. We called the management who initially responded favorably and replaced all the bed linen, however, the towels were not replaced and we were forced to purchase our own. According to management, the owner had failed to pay his monthly bill they would therefore not change the towels for us. Management would not answer our calls and the only way we could get in touch with the owner was through email because the telephone number he supplied would not accept calls or messages. This presented a problem because the phone and Internet service in the home was not working. We were forced to use our cell phones and go to Internet café and pay for the service. Despite our attempts to have the phone lines repaired neither management nor owner would respond to our concern we had to call the phone service ourselves to have this issue corrected. Perhaps to some these issues would not present a problem as the outward appearance of the home is more important than its cleanliness, for my family and I however, cleanliness is vital. We paid for a service and expected to not only arrive to a well kempt home, but also be treated with courtesy and respect. We made the most of a potentially horrible vacation and did everything to ensure the home was clean. Last time I heard a vacation is for rest and relaxation, if I wanted to clean a home I would have stayed home and cleaned my own…or the owner should have paid us for cleaning his home! |
