We stayed at the hideaway during our vacation April 2006. I had vacationed in St. Croix several times before but not at this site. When we arrived at the cottage we were so excited about it's location. Literally on top of the water! However, if you can't sleep to the sound of crashing waves, you should think twice! The cottage was cute. However, the phone didn't work and neither did the a/c. We were then told by a gentleman, not the person who we booked through, that the phone would be looked at during the week but the a/c was not going to be fixed. Not a good thing in 90 degree weather with humidity. Also, our cell phones didn't work there so we felt unsafe. It was a very difficult week staying cool since you have to walk to the beach, there is no pool and no a/c. There were also huge, mouse sized bugs, that we saw scamper under the stairs near the bedroom.
When we arrived home we asked the owner to compensate us for the huge inconvenience and all we got was, 'I will give you a discount on your next stay!' She was not very accomodating and we would never stay there again. There are several other good choices on the island. |
