Gracious accommodation and Fine Dining in an elegant Edwardian homestead with 8 acres of gardens set in the Southern Alps foothills. Christchurch city centre is a 40 minutes drive. Activities include skiing (Mt Hutt and 5 other fields), golf ( 4 courses including Terrace Downs,) Rakaia River jet boating, Lakes, Tranzalpine train to the West Coast, horse riding, hot air ballooning, hunting.
Gunyah is a historically listed house with period furniture and refinements. It has 5 large double bedrooms individually decorated, ensuite facilities. Lavish four-course silver-service dinners are prepared by European chef from the best of Canterbury's produce and to individual requirements. Original wine cellar. An elegant, private retreat to come home to after a day enjoying New Zealand’s most spectacular scenery.
The Lodge can also be a venue for boutique weddings (resident marriage and civil union celebrant), day time events and special occasions for up to 30 people.
