Huatulco Bays and Beaches

Posted by Vladimir Kovalenko on Saturday, April 07, 2007 - 19:55

Huatulco stretches from east to west along 18 miles of coastline and encompasses nine pristine bays, Conejos, Tangolunda, Chahue, Santa Cruz , Maguey, Organo, Cacaluta, Chachacual and San Agustin. So far, three major bays have been developed: Tangolunda, Santa Cruz , and Chahue. Tangolunda Bay is home to luxury hotels, two commercial centers, restaurants, and an 18-hole golf course. Chahue Bay is the newest development. Santa Cruz Bay has the marina where you can rent a boat to visit other bays and beaches. The most eastern bay is Conejos Bay. It is not yet developed. You will find there a small restaurant where you can enjoy simple fresh seafood, and a cold beer. You can walk across the short ridge and snorkel on Playa Maguey. There is a beautiful coral reef . Oregano, Cacaluta and Chachacual bays are undeveloped, and can be accessed only by boat or hiking. San Augustin is the most western bay. It can be accessed only by boat or dirt road. Its many reefs make it ideal for diving.
