VacationRentalDirect Not for use without permission http://helpspot.vacationrentaldirect.com/index.php?pg=forums.topics&id=1 Help Desk I can't get my photos to upload to my listing? http://helpspot.vacationrentaldirect.com/index.php?pg=forums.posts&id=3&pc=1 Brent KleinhekselVacationRentalDirect.com requires a minimum images resolution of 300x200. If your images do not meet these requirements the system will not allow them to be uploaded.

Some users will name their images with filenames like:

bob's master bedroom pictures (2).jpg

Filenames with apostrophies or parenthesis in them cannot be uploaded and the system will reject them. Please rename your images and then the system will allow the images to upload.

If all else fails, email us your pictures or send us a link to your website and we'll try and add images to your listing for you?January 5 2008, 10:31 PM

How can I improve the quality score of my listing? http://helpspot.vacationrentaldirect.com/index.php?pg=forums.posts&id=2&pc=1 Brent KleinhekselAll listings on VacationRentalDirect.com are assigned a quality score at the time the listing is added and every time the listing is updated. Here are the components of quality score:

1. Listing with 3 or less pictures = +1
2. Listing with 4 or more pictures = +2
3. Valid Google Map = +1
4. Listing Description with 50+ Characters = +1
5. Listing has phone number displayed = +1
6. Listing has availability calendar = +1
7. Listing has embedded video code = +1

Thus the highest quality score any listing can obtain is a score of 7.

However, it is possible to get a score >7 by using the Backlink feature located in the tools section of your listing control panel. Using this feature it is possible get a quality score of 8 or 9, which would put your listing at the top of even the busiest categories.January 5 2008, 10:27 PM

Back Link http://helpspot.vacationrentaldirect.com/index.php?pg=forums.posts&id=8&pc=2 Tammy FlegalHi,

I added the code to my webpage to back link to your site. It isn't working. If you click on the link on my webpage I get server cannot find site.

Here is the code that was supplied under my login:

<a href="http://www.vacationrentaldirect.com/vacation-rentals/7141/Outer-Banks.htm">Outer Banks Vacation Rentals</a>

#7141 is not my house on your site. My number is 1619. I even changed the number in the code but it won't work. Any suggestions?January 14 2008, 10:03 PM

Tammy the code is correct. My system is showing that you successfully implemented it into your page and was validated?

Calendar http://helpspot.vacationrentaldirect.com/index.php?pg=forums.posts&id=6&pc=2 Craig DaleyMy property number is 7043 but the calendar that is linked to it is NOT my property. I have my calendar updated on VRBO and the other sites but it is picking up the wrong property.January 12 2008, 08:15 PM
Brent Kleinheksel
The calendar that is linked to this property is:

http://www.homeawayconnect.com/calendar.aspx?propertyid=758

Whatever property ID for your rentors.org calendar that you input will be the calendar that appears?

Let me know if you figured it out!

How many unique visitors per month does VacationRentalDirect.com receive? http://helpspot.vacationrentaldirect.com/index.php?pg=forums.posts&id=4&pc=1 Brent KleinhekselThis is actually Brent Kleinheksel, the owner of VacationRentalDirect.com. I thought I would test the system as a user, rather than ad administrator.

The answer is that the traffic to VacationrentalDirect.com is growing rapidly, but is still small in comparison to sites like VRBO.com. However, VRBO.com gets so much traffic, that the next largest competitor (vacationrentals.com) only gets 1/3 as much traffic as VRBO.com.

Here is a graph:

<a href='http://siteanalytics.compete.com/vacationrentals.com+vrbo.com+homeaway.com?metric=uv'><img src='http://home.compete.com.edgesuite.net/vacationrentals.com+vrbo.com+homeaway.com_uv_460.png' /></a>

However we price at 1/6th the cost and plan on keeping that price for the next couple years, even as our traffic increases.
