Bonaire: The Best Time to Visit

by Brent Kleinheksel on August 9, 2011

One of the first questions most tourists ask about a destination is, “When should I go?” While this is a key question to ask when it comes to many travel destinations, it is not as critical for those visiting the Caribbean island of Bonaire. Vacation rentals on Bonaire provide visitors with lovely holiday weather during winter, spring, autumn, and summer.

That said, there are some seasonal variations in climate on Bonaire. While temperatures are comfortable year round, the summer season, encompassing June through August has the hottest weather. Temperatures during those months tend to climb toward the upper 80s, which is still much less hot than Americans will find during those months in much of the United States. Bonaire’s ocean breezes help to keep the temperature from climbing to uncomfortable levels.

December through February sees the lowest temperatures of the year, with figures dropping to the middle 70s. While this is cooler than temperatures in the summer, it is still comparable to the summer season on Bonaire.

Weather is more than the temperature, of course. Bonaire has a dry season and a rainy season, but there is not a profound difference between the two. The island receives the most rain in November and December when an average of 3.6 inches of rain will fall each day. During the dry season daily rainfall reduces to one-third of that amount. In either case, storms are usually of short duration. Tourists can expect to use every day of their Bonaire holiday to visit beaches and see attractions; it is quite unusual for rain to fall for an entire day.
