Immaculate, year-round 3 bedroom, 2 bath oceanfront home on 3 1/2 acres with private pier overlooking Muscongus Bay & islands. Antiques, Orientals, cathedral ceilings, gleaming wide pine floors & skylights, along with top of the line mattresses & appliances including single jacuzzi tub provide a very comfortable setting for an unforgettable vacation. Wake to the nostalgic scent of fresh salt air & the plaintiff call of seagulls. Watch the occasional local fisherman check his pots for lobster from the elevated sun deck, spot the family of seals on Haystack Island or see the resident Ospreys nesting with the guest house binoculars. Use the two sit on top kayaks, the tandem kayak, or the rowboat provided to explore the endless coves and islands, or take advantage of our large take one/leave one library to read on the deck which is complete with patio furniture, gas grille and magnificent views. Later enjoy a cocktail on your private pier as the ducks swim & the tides change below. And that's just the beginning... you haven't even left the property!
The downstairs living room has beautiful & comfortable seating, a large picture window & the TV/VCR/DVD. We have compiled a rather large selection of vcr tapes for your use with something in most genres. Off the living room is the double bedroom with private bath. Upstairs the great room has a mix of antique & new furnishings where you can enjoy the stereo & the panoramic view of boats, islands and spruce trees through huge French doors that lead out to the 2nd floor deck. The kitchen is large, bright & well equipped. It is a truly beautiful & restorative vacation home. The Master bedroom is beautifully appointed and holds an antique four poster bed. Double bedside tables and lamps are provided for comfortable reading before falling asleep on the top of the line pillow top mattress. Hardwood bureau and double wide closet allow more than ample space for belongings.
The Double bedroom is downstairs off the downstairs living room and has it's own private bath. Again a full dresser and closet, comfortable chair and reading lamps are provided.
Upstairs above the great room, the loft holds two twin size beds, colorful rug, built in bureaus, reading lamps and a rocking chair.
All the mattresses are new and top of the line for a truly comfortable and restful vacation. Fresh pillows and blankets and quilts are provided. You should bring your own linens and dish towels. We have a washer/dryer for your convenience. The nearby Farnsworth Museum is famous for its collection by American artists, & the Transportation Museum has the first Ford Mustang ever built! We are only 30 minutes from Camden and Rockland to the North and 30 minutes south will bring you to Damariscotta, Pemaquid and the Boothbay region. Fine dining, world class golf, museums, festivals, concerts, the opera house, schooner trips, hiking, biking, & fabulous antiquing are all only a decision away. Waldoboro itself has an active summer playhouse/theatre and the local pier in Friendship is only minutes away where you can buy succulent lobster fresh off the boat. Or on vacation, why not treat yourself to an organized clambake on the beach where all the work & cleanup is done for you! We have compiled an extensive list of activities and ideas, complete with phone numbers, etc. that is available at the guest house, at www.leather-bags.com/guesthouse, by e-mail, or go to camdenme.org for a great free guide.
Note: At this time so far off the beaten path, internet access is dial up, but we expect to join the 21st century soon. The local library in town, a short distance away, has free wireless and internet access.
