Traditional Somerset byre converted into 2 comfortable cottages, 1 suitable for wheelchairs. In peaceful countryside, less than 2 miles from Castle Cary. Linen provided. Relax in garden or enjoy quiet country walks. Ideal for exploring West Country.
A traditional Somerset byre has been converted into two comfortable holiday cottages. They are equipped with modern household appliances, but retain the charm of country cottages. Thus visitors are able to enjoy all the comforts of home in the tranquility of the countryside. Surrounding the cottages is the beautiful Somerset countryside. Enjoy the many footpaths crossing the farm, where you may see foxes or deer. Badger setts are common, and you may be lucky enough to see a badger on a quiet road at night.
Both cottages have an open-plan living area comprised of lounge and dining area, with a kitchen leading off from this. The Owls has a main bedroom with a double bed, plus a second bedroom with bunk beds, a bathroom with bath/shower and a separate toilet. Bird's Nest, designed to be suitable for wheelchair users, has two bedrooms with double beds, and a combined toilet/bathroom with bath/shower. Each cottage sleeps 4, but we can put an extra bed in the lounge if required.
Numerous attractions abound in this corner of the West Country, with something to suit everyone, from picturesque villages to outdoor adventure centres, walks and cycle routes. Notable attractions include Bath, Glastonbury, Wells, the Somerset Levels, Longleat Safari Park, Montacute House, Stourhead, and many other classic houses and gardens, and areas of historical or natural beauty. We are also ideally situated for visitors wishing to visit the Bath & West Showgrounds or the annual Somerset Carnivals. Increasingly popular is Clark's Village at Street, the UK's foremost outlet shopping centre. The famous Haynes Motor Museum is five miles away, and just beyond this is the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, home to the prototype Concorde.
