A fabulous holiday house for couples, families and friends.Children love it. You can kayak, swim ,fish and snorkel right in your own backyard.

The central Beach Bar/ Kitchen has large shutters which open up to the mosaic breakfast bar and the dining deck where there is a banquet table and a large BBQ.Built in seats for lounging look over the beach and the sundeck where a board walk takes you to the swimming pontoon.At night you can light a camp fire and star gaze under the balmy tropical sky.

Truly an absolute waterfront living experience.

The kitchen is well Equipped with a gas oven and burners, a large fridge, stainless sink,Hardwood bar tops, utensils, plates, pots, pans etc There is an extra toilet and a refreshing cool water shower so you can rinse off after swimming.

There are 2 separate screened bedrooms on each side of the beach bar building. They are quite private and surrounded by lovely lush gardens.

KINGFISHER BURE.
Sleeps 4. A lovely spacious screened room with views over the beach and the water. You can sleep in a comfortable quality queen bed with cotton sheets and ample pillows. There is also a single bed and a loft
with a mattress. Be caressed to sleep with the sounds of the water and the ambience of this special space. The en suite has a tiled showerwith hot water and a vanity and a toilet. There is also a private tree top deck.. $80 per day

RIVER SONG BURE.
Sleeps 2. A cute room nestled in a private garden with a balcony with views of the beach and water. The bathroom facilities are in the beach
bar building a few meters away along the garden path. There is a comfortable double bed with cotton sheets and ample pillows.
You will hear the fish jumping in the night and awaken to birdsong. $40 per day.

Salt lake lodge is solar powered and we use fresh rain water for cooking ,drinking and bathing. We have eco toilets which are clean and green. They are comfortable and easy to use and help to protect our unique environment.
All the bedrooms and the living area are just a few meters from the water.

We live across the road on 5 organic acresso and are happy to help you with information.We supply fresh fruit and vegetables in season. We also sell fresh free range eggs which our guests love.We can bake for you and arrange a special meal if you wish.

SAVUSAVU, known as the HIDDEN PARADISE is on
Vanua Levu which is less populated and less developed than Viti Levu. Savusavu is a quaint Town with a colonial history.The town has thermal springs and the locals still cook in the bubbling pools near the primary school in town.

GETTING HERE
AIR PACIFIC is Fiji’s National Air Carrier.www.airpacific.com
Nadi International Airport is the most common entry point. Some international flights land in Suva at Nausori Airport. These Airports are located on the Island of Viti Levu. You can fly to Savusavu Airport on the Island of Vanua Levu in less than an hour from either Airport..

TAXI
Taxi’s are plentiful and cheap. The main Taxi rank is in the middle of Town near the Market by the Bus Station They don’t have meters and cost around $1 per kilometer. Taxi’s meet all incoming planes and ferry boats. From Savusavu to Salt Lake Lodge costs about $30 and is a 1/2 hour scenic drive.

BUS
The bus fare cost’s $2. They are a fun experience with their open windows with tarpaulins which are let down in rain weather. A great way to meet the friendly local people. The Hibiscus Highway
has fabulous views of the coast and the country side all the way to Salt Lake Road junction. A 1 hour scenic trip. Ask the driver to let you off at Salt Lake Road. From the junction Salt Lake Lodge
is a flat, shady 5 minute walk.

Going to or from Taveuni Island the bus which meets the Natuvu Ferry will drop you at Salt Lake Road. Just ask the driver and keep an eye out for the SALT LAKE sign on the tree beside the bridge with the rushing water.

HIRE CARS
These are available in Savusavu. There are several companies and they start at around $55 plus insurance and fuel.There are also scooters and bikes for hire.

LANGUAGE
Most people can speak English well plus Fijian and Hindi.A friendly Bula and a big smile is the Fiji National greeting.

CLIMATE
Expect tropical weather with balmy evenings. The cooler months are from June till September.
The wetter months are usually December till march.

WHAT TO BRING
Light cotton clothing is best. Reef shoes, fishing and snorkeling gear. Sun hat, sun lotion, medications, insect repellant, torch and batteries.
Duty free items, favorite can’t do without foods like chocolate, special coffee etc. Don’t worry if you forget something as you will be able to find most things in Savusavu.

FISHING
Situated on the Qaloqalo Salt River enjoying all tide accessto the lake and the Koro Sea, the river entrance and Benau Lagoon. All just minutes away by 14 foot runabout with a 8 h.p. motor
Anglers can experience trolling, popping,and bottom fishing.Mangrove Jacks, barracudas, sailfish, trevalli, yellow fin tuna and reef fish are all caught here. You can arrange to go out
at what ever time suits. Experienced guide and life jackets are provided.

COSTS; With your own fishing gear fiji $30 per hour with a $60 minimum charge Or $40 per hour with fishing gear provided.

KAYAKING.
Kayak from Salt Lake along the Qaloqalo River past mangrove forests to the beautiful Salt Lake. The Lake covers an area of about 100 acres.The ancestral home of Dakuwaga theSea God. Fed by the ocean tides the lake is an inland sea perfect for kayaking and fishing. Retrace the steps of the ancient Fijians who used the river as a short cut to the fabulous Natewa Bay, the largest bay in the South Pacific.

SNORKELING
Trips to beautiful Benau Lagoon, the reef and the
Qaloqalo river passage are a delight. Turtles,
dolphins and reef sharks are often seen. Soft and
hard corals, and schools of colorful fish abound in the warm turquoise waters.

BOAT HIRE fj. $30 per hour with a $60 minimum charge
We recommend you bring your own reef shoes and
snorkeling gear as we have a limited supply.

HIKING
There are many lovely walks. A favorite is Salt Lake Lodge
to Natewa Bay. About a 1 hour walk along a quiet country
lane. The road takes you past coconut plantations and
tropical bush. At Natewa Bay you can snorkel off the shore,
take a picnic and enjoy the scenery.

SCUBA DIVING
Koro Sun Dive is a 15 minute drive from Salt Lake
Lodge.They offer dive courses, day and night
dives and come highly recommended by our guests.

Our local community are Gilbertese, Banaban, Indian and Fijian. You are welcome to attend a church service on Sundays and enjoy the wonderful singing. The local people are very friendly and enjoy meeting visitors.

Salt Lake Lodge is where you can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and fishing. You can throw in a line from the pontoon or go out in the boat. Kayak up to the lake and paddle around the little island in the middle before heading back past mangrove forest and lush tropical vegetation You could well be the only people there. Fish and bird life thrive in this slice of paradise.Swimming is a treat you can enjoy throughout the day or night.A cool thing to do is to jump off the bridge at the junction with the incoming tide and drift back to the Lodge.
