Derwent and Primrose Holiday Cottages close for
Walking – a 7 mile walk through the Northern Fringe of the Yorkshire Wolds passes through Low Penhowe.
Cycling – the National Cycle By-way passes at the bottom of the drive up to Low Penhowe.
Fishing – locally in the River Derwent or trout ponds nearby to the our Holiday Cottages
Horse Riding – a few hacking stables nearby
Well behaved pets are more than welcome to our Holiday Cottages
Help us feed the chickens and collect the eggs each morning

Situated in a convenient and pleasant location, these properties are presented to a high standard. The owners strive to deliver high levels of service and guest care, catering well for the market.

Bedrooms and living areas are of a very good standard overall. Kitchens and bathrooms are well equipped and both are easy to use. Standards of Cleanliness are high and all other quality aspects have been maintained or improved upon the levels assessed in previous years.

Under the new British Common Standards for Self Catering Derwent and Primrose Cottages achieve a Four Star rating.

Our Holiday Cottage guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out within easy reach of Low Penhowe. There are 4 excellent pubs, all within 3 miles! The Stone Trough Inn at Kirkham, recommended in “The Good Pub Guide”, is a country inn that offers the ideal combination of a traditional pub and elegant restaurant, over the years has won many awards for its food. The Blacksmiths Inn at Westow, “Yorkshire Dining Pub of the Year” as awarded by “The Good Pub Guide” has been completely renovated and again offers a combination of a village pub and restaurant. The Jolly Farmers at Leavening, also mentioned in The Good Pub Guide is a good local pub situated in the heart of the village and offers a good selection of local home cooked dishes combined with a friendly welcoming atmosphere typical to North Yorkshire. The Bay Horse Inn at Burythorpe has been recently renovated throughout and is now a warm and welcoming local pub and restaurant.

North Yorkshire has recently been crowned Garden of England. The county was praised for "breathtaking countryside" like the Yorkshire Dales and the quality of its stately homes, such as Castle Howard near York.

If cancelled more than 90 days prior to planned/booked arrival date.
A full refund of the deposit will be returned immediately.
If cancelled within 90 days of planned/booked arrival date.
50% of the deposit will be returned immediately
If we receive a replacement booking we will gladly refund any deposit owing.
If cancelled within 75 days of planned/booked arrival date.
No refund of deposit will be eligible, unless we receive a replacement booking. We will then refund any deposit owing.

If a deposit has been paid by Debit or Credit card we reserve the right to deduct any commission charge paid to the Bank or Credit Card Company

Arrival and Departure times – as we complete a through cleaning of the cottage on departure we would ask you to observe the following arrival and departure times. If you need to arrive earlier, please let us know and we will always do our very best to accommodate you.

We always ask you to make sure that any dogs mess is cleared up!
