*Downtown Stuart-You could shop all day and not see every store- each one with a different theme. Very "artsy" atmosphere mingled with great sports bars and restaurants. Favorite store: "Southern Styles of Stuart"-ladies clothing that is unusual, casual to dressy, very different designers. They also have a couch for your husband!!
*"Conch Alley"-US 1 Port St. Lucie- Gorgeous and reasonable seaside and shell creations- Great variety of shells of all sizes -very inexpensive.
-Discovery:-We are surrounded by many preserve beaches and areas that will allow you to view Florida and its wildlife totally untouched by man. If you drive south on A1A, mile after mile, you will find the whole area dotted with preserve beaches and amazing nature trails on the Indian River that are free and open to the public.
-Fun Education:-The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, UDT Navy Seal Museum and the Manatee Observation Area (all minutes away) are fascinating, inexpensive and/or free.
-Bathtub Beach/Reef- 25 minutes south -great snorkeling/swimming for children

Downtown Fort Pierce (near the Tiki bar on the square every Saturday mornings there is an open market. Fresh fruits and vegetables, coffee, baked goods, arts + crafts, and all kinds of things. Buy a cup of coffee and enjoy the walk or view.
Don't forget the 1st Friday of every month there is a festival downtown featuring music food and vendors and lots of fun.

Jensen Beach Access - 15 minutes south on Route A1A.
Gilbert's Bar House of Refuge - 17 miles south, a
19th century life saving station, the only one still surviving on Florida's east coast. A remnant of the U.S. Lifesaving Service now known as the U.S. Coast Guard.
Elliott Museum - Local museum that features anything from sportscard exhibits to antique automobile shows. 20 minutes south on Route A1A.
Manatee Center - 7 minutes away in downtown Fort Pierce - great Place to see live manatees (best viewing in winter) Viewing is free! Small donation to see the museum.
A.E. "Bean" Backus Home and Art Museum - 7 minutes away in downtown Fort Pierce. Fort Pierce's most famous 20th century artist. Right next door is the welcome center.
Airboat Rides - The most reasonably priced airboat rides we've been able to find are conveniently located on the way to Orlando. Just follow I-95 North to Exit 75 and take Route 520 West about 5 miles
to the Lone Cabbage Fish Camp on your left. A nice side-trip if you're headed to/from Orlando.
Fort Pierce Jai Alai - located on King's Highway about a mile north of the FL Turnpike exit at Fort Pierce (Seasonal). Off-Track Betting is also featured here.
