Lovely renovated stone village house situated in a pretty, quiet mountain village . The three double bedrooms easily sleep six with a kingsize bed in the master suite. This traditional French house retains its original charm with wonderful views of the mountains & the River Arnave which runs through the village. The village wins awards every year for its flower displays.
The house has all the modern comforts with a modern bathroom with large walk-in shower & another separate toilet. Towels & bedlinen are provided.There is a well equipped kitchen with microwave, cooker, fridge-freezer, washing machine & all cutlery, plates, glasses etc., for 6. as well as some essential cooking ingredients.The living room contains a library of books, DVDs & games for guests to enjoy as well as TV, DVD Player & Radio/CD/MP3 Player.
There is a pretty southfacing courtyard garden for outside dining with table & chairs, a southfacing balcony with mountain views & a large barn at the back of the property which can store bicycles & motorbikes. Cool in the summer with mountain breezes & cosy in the winter with large wood burning fireplace & central heating this house offers great all year round accommadation.
There is a daily bread van with delicious bread, croissants, pain au chocolate & biscuits! There is also weekly grocery van plus an open air market at Tarascon every wednesday. If you want to immerse yourself in a real experience of France then this tranquil,friendly place offers an unforgettable holiday for you; from the bonjours as you buy your bread every morning to the bonsoirs in the evening, the neighbours will make you feel very much a part of the village.
There is plenty to do with a Riverbeach, with many watersports, at Mercus & swimming pool in Tarascon within 5/10 mins drive.
The area is ideal for cycling, walking, watersports, skiing, exploring the prehistoric caves or a relaxing getaway. Golf is at La Bastide de Serou. The cafes, bars & restaurants of Tarascon sur Ariege are a few mins by car. A taxi service is also available to Tarascon.
Arnave has the oldest Romanic chapel of the region-Chapelle St Paul - it is well worth the walk from the house to the chapel just for the views of the village below.
The world famous prehistoric caves of Niaux are close by as well as a number of grottos including one with one of the largest subterranean rivers in Europe.
The area is steeped in Cathar history.There are a number of Cathar Castles, notably the nearest being Montsegur & Foix. THe views from top of Montsegur are breathtaking.
