Property Details

The old tenants’ house, completely rebuilt is divided into three apartments, all well furnished, in order to offer to its guests a pleasing and comfortable stay. Each apartment, can sleep 5/7 guests, is equipped with Satellite TV, living room with sleeping-sofa and cooking corner, a bedroom with a king size bed and a bathroom.
The guests also have a large balcony with a pleasant view on the valley and mountain bikes to ride on the naturalistic paths of the area. Every apartment has a big parking space directly accessible from the main road.
Situated amidst the hills of Liguria’s countryside, in the immediate outskirts of Albenga, in Ponterotto (100 mt above sea level), a quiet village only 15 km from the beaches.

The Bronda family, owners for generations of the nearby flower company which mainly produces cut flowers (peony, peach tree flowers and ornamental foliage) as well as all the all the typical products from the orchard and extra virgin olive oil, runs this agriturismo (Farm Holiday Facility) which has been recently built and puts all its knowledge and profound experience of products and territory to the service of its guests.

Andrea will be your guide when visiting the farm going on mountain bike trips (MTB are available with the apartments) across the surrounding hills and organizing trekking days in the nearby Maritime Alps.
One is surprised by how in a few minutes of driving one can reach, leaving from the small village of Ponterotto, the crowded beaches of the pleasant Riviera towns or the mountainous villages of the Maritime Alps, where during winter it is possible to ski.
One of the most interesting, visually speaking, villages is Nava, famous for its typical lavender flowers from which a famous and precious alcohol is distilled. Moreover in Nava you will be able to visit the Central Fort, built during the Napoleonic era with its austere charm and which is still used for cultural events.

All the numerous villages of the valley have something to offer to the tourist, other than the sensation of tranquillity and peace which is guaranteed when staying here. In Ranzo the church of San Pantaleo in which is preserved an eleventh century apse and precious paintings from the local painter Guido da Ranzo (1499-1542). The elliptic plant baroque oratory at Nostra Signora della Neve (Our Lady of the Snow) situated in the suburb of Costa Bacelega has to be visited.

Vessalico boasts the precious Roman church Church of Sant’ Andrea. Borghetto d’Arroscia, with its small fraction of Gavenola offers to the tourist some interesting cultural paths (you can visit the baroque parish or taste some typical products such as cheese, honey, wine “Ormeasco doc”, and, finally Aquila d’Arroscia with the interesting Santa Reparata Church, with its neoclassic dome and Armo in a pleasant position at the feet of the Rocca delle Penne.

In the territory of the Arroscia Valley agriculture is still the main activity. Driving through the main road which goes from Albenga to Ponterotto your gaze gets lost amongst the plains of flowers and vegetables, typical cultures of the valley bottom, while going uphill and then to the mountains the road closes in on terraces cultivated with olive trees and vineyards, which produce an oil famous for its delicate taste and the well known wines of Pigato and Ormeasco.

Still uncontaminated, rich with green hills covered by olive trees and vineyards at the bottom, it anticipates the mountain in its highest part, this valley offers in a few kilometres, a large range of landscapes, in a serene and typically Mediterranean atmosphere. The follow-through of terraces snatched from the hills by the peasants and, the pastures, which are still used on the Alps, open to the tourist a window on past times.

The valley takes its name from the river that crosses it. The river Arroscia is born on Mount Frontè and during its tortuous path across the valley it forms spectacular waterfalls, which can be visited on a small trek across mountain pastures in the area of the towns of Mendatica and Montegrosso Pian Latte, where we find the famous “rocca bianca”, one of the deepest chasms in the region.

During your stay you can choose between long walks on the hills surrounding the valley on the trekking paths, a mountain bike challenge, or else you can loose yourself in the magic of the nearby small villages the likes of Ortovero, Pieve di Teco, Villanova d’Albenga, and many others a few kilometres away, not well known to many but each with an unforgettable charm. Inside these villages you will find restaurants and taverns where you must stop over and you will have the pleasure of tasting typical dishes as they were once cooked.
Mountain Bike and Parasailing

Hundreds of kilometres across the mule tracks will satisfy the needs of all levels of riders. It will also be possible to experience the thrill of flying in Mendatica and enjoy a splendid view from the sky, on your own or with a certified parasailing instructor.

Monesi: Skiing close to the sea

In spite of its proximity to the sea, the Ponterotto agriturismo can become an excellent skiing base for a daily winter sports trip, it close to the skiing resorts of Monesi and Monte Saccarello, which are situated at an altitude between 1400 and 2200 metres.

During spring, when the temperatures are higher and the snow in Monesi is more consistent, enough to be able to ski on and off track, the scenery is particularly suggestive. After a morning skiing, in no time, you can go back to the coast for a sunny afternoon on the beach. Guest who like trekking on skis will find sure satisfaction on the tracks of the uncontaminated territory of Navette (departure from Valcona, very characteristic is Malga di Mendatica) and at Case Fascei on the side of Mount Mònega, above Montegrosso Pian di Latte.

Kayak and Rafting

When the water flow allows it, it is possible to make exciting descents of the river Arroscia, north of Pieve di Teco, for 5 km.

Fishing

The Arroscia river, rich of numerous tributaries, will satisfy the needs of fishing fans of every skill and age. In some places the river has created small lakes where children can make an approach to this sport. In Bastia di Albenga, 10 km from the cottage, it is possible to practice facilitated fishing.

A circuit for the blind

In the vicinity of San Bernardo di Mendatica, at about 1300 m above sea level, there is a facilitated path, which is equipped for the blind with tactile signal on nylon ropes and Braille signals.

Whale Watching

In the Ligurian Riviera it is possible to visit a protected marine area, which extends to the Cote d’Azur, Corsica, Sardinia and Tuscany. These 96,000 sq km of sea host about 2000 whales and other species of cetaceans, like dolphins and sperm whales, which can be easily seen thanks to the trips which are organized each year not only to allow the tourist to enjoy an unforgettable natural show, but above all to sensitize the thousands of visitors towards respecting the sea and its precious ecosystem.

Even in winter or autumn these sports structures can accommodate the players with covered courts. In regards to professional tennis a reminder of the traditional meeting in Alassio with the Italian Veterans’ Championship.

On the Riviera you will be able to enjoy the pleasures of sailing, while discovering the most secluded and untouched bays. In any of the sea resorts one can find a sailing school or club were you can rent a boat for a few hours or a whole day in order to sail through he Ligurian sea waters carried away by the wind and your interior compass.
