Connemara is world reknowned for its stunning scenery. This coastal region has miles of beaches and fantastic walks. This is a great area to explore and is a great base for exploring the rest of the west from Clare to Sligo. Clifden is the capital and is located one hour from Galway city and forty minutes from Westport. There are many local attractions aside from the stunning scenery and coast. Clifden town has a population of 1000 and has a great mix of shops, pubs, restaurants, theatre and small cinema. There are always events on in town from live traditional music, live bands, theatre shows, exhibitions, walking tours, pony fairs, local markets. Please see www.clifden.ie. and www.connemara.net. We highly recommend Clifden Arts week in September for something special.
