Bass Lake Summer Getaway!

Posted by Craig Scachitti on Tuesday, October 02, 2007

Bass Lake, believe it or not, is a natural lake that stands on top of a hill. Nearly unique among Indiana lakes, its drainage basin slopes away-not toward-the water and how it remains liquid is, at first thought, something of a mystery.” Starke County Historical Society As Indiana's fourth largest natural body of water (approximately 1,400 acres) which boasts exceptional fishing and water sports. Bass Lake is the only Indiana lake that has provided reasonably good fishing for walleyed pike over a long period of years and one of the few in the state in which white bass are numerous enough to afford regular fishing. Large and small mouth bass, crappies, bluegills and perch are other important game fish. The South end of the lake is shallow, ideal for water skiers and has a slalom course owned by the OPPO Ski Club. A great place for the family summer vacation!
