Wellington, Florida for Horse Lovers

Wellington calls to mind images of flavorful beef dishes or reminds people of the famous Duke who was finally successful in battle against Napoleon Bonaparte. For vacationers who know the state of Florida, however, Wellington is also a large city located in Palm Beach County. Wellington offers visitors excellent access to the Atlantic seaboard even though it is not on the coast itself. Commonly referred to as a Florida village, this area has almost 60,000 residents and is a place where Florida tourists can find a variety of vacation homes.

Wellington has its origins as the largest strawberry farm in the world, but began to be developed as a planned community in the early 1970s. The original 'village' was incorporated into an official city in the mid 1990s, and this is when Wellington evolved from being a 'bedroom community' with few amenities such as restaurants and nightlife to its state today, with major shopping centers and plenty of dining choices for vacationers staying in holiday rentals in Wellington.

Wellington is also associated with horses and in fact holds a large horse show for the first three months of each year. This horse show is the longest such event in the world. Tourists who love to see a variety of horses particularly enjoy the three-month duration of the event, since it means that they can plan their holidays at any time during twelve consecutive weeks without missing this exciting local event.
