Lake Simcoe is one of the major lakes that makes up the Trent-Severn Waterway system, a picturesque route that you can boat from Lake Ontario, through canals and locks, lush farmland, past waterfalls and ancient geological features ending up in Georgian Bay. Boating all or part of the 386 km of the waterway is possible from Lake Simcoe. In the winter, Lake Simcoe is known for its ice fishing and snowmobiling. Sport fishing is so popular that many commercial fishing hut operators rent heated huts, supplying transportation, bait, food and tackle. Lake trout, whitefish, panfish, pike, walleye, ling are the most common species taken.
