Canada - Tofino

Posted by James Pain on Thursday, November 01, 2007

Tofino, situated on the furthest West point of Vancouver Island was named after Vincente Tofino, a rear admiral of the Spanish Navy & hydrographer. When explorers Galiano and Valdes charted the coastal waters and came upon this beautiful inlet passage they decided to name if after their mentor Captain Vincente Tofino. Vincente never came to see the place that makes his name famous. This magnificent area offers visitors wilderness tours, bear & whale watching excursions, kayaking, surfing, beach combing, golf, sport fishing, hot springs and of course pure relaxation and repose with incredibly intoxicating scenery and surroundings. Experience the grandeur of nature with a coastal winter storm November through February - or witness the captivating migration of Gray whales along the Pacific coast March through late May. Whatever the time of year you decide to visit you'll find a myriad of things to do and attractions to occupy your getaway!
