Beaches and Tourist Sites on Hutchinson Island
Hutchison Island is one of Florida's barrier islands. Located in both Martin and St. Lucie Counties, the island offers access to several aquatic areas including the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian River, the Fort Pierce Inlet, and the St. Lucie Inlet.
Public Beaches on Hutchinson Island
Hutchinson Island holiday rentals allow visitors to enjoy several public beaches with excellent amenities. Martin County's public beaches on the island include not just restrooms and showers, but also lifeguard stations, concession stands, and pavilions. The two largest beaches are Jenson Sea Turtle Beach, which can be found off the Jensen Beach Causeway, and Stuart Beach, located near the Elliot Museum.
Smaller beaches also exist on Hutchinson Island. One favorite with tourists is Bathtub Beach off MacArthur Boulevard. Featuring sand dunes with wooden stairs to make climbing easier, Bathtub Beach has shallow, calm pools that are protected from the surf by formations of rocks. This makes the beach family friendly because the pools remain warmer than the ocean beyond and children can enjoy a place to splash where they will not be buffeted by waves.
Another small beach is one known by the descriptive and whimsical name of the "Park-N-Fish." Tourists can find it slightly north of the House of Refuge, which is a National Historic Site on MacArthur Boulevard.
Tourist Attractions
Other points of interest include the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center. Located opposite the Elliot Museum, the center seeks to educate tourists about the habitat and species of the Florida coast.
