Whidbey Island
Posted by John Dingman on Wednesday, August 08, 2007
Beautiful Whidbey Island in Washington State is not only the largest island in the continental United States, it is the most coveted. Located in the protected waters of Puget Sound, it is just an hour from Seattle and a 20 minute ferry ride from Everett, the home of Boeing’s wide body aircraft assembly plant. Yet Whidbey remains a rustic and seemingly remote natural wonder.
Whidbey offers weeks of scenic, historical and shopping pleasures. The town of Coupeville is noted to be the first settlement in the northwest by early American explorers and offers unique historical attractions for all to enjoy. Other than ferry access, Whidbey Island is connected to the mainland at the north end by breathtaking Deception Pass Bridge and it is your stepping off point to the fabulous San Juan Islands which divide the US and Canada in the Pacific Northwest.
Visit Whidbey Island once and you will be hooked for life. It will be that habit you will never want to break!
