The Yooper Lodge is located in Twin Lakes area of Houghton County, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. If you have never been to the Upper Peninsula for a vacation you don't know what you've missed! There are hundreds of things to see and do.
The Yooper Lodge is a great place to bring the whole gang. It has fully equipped kitchen including coffee! All you need to bring is the food you like to eat. The breakfast nook is a great place to play games in the evening. The livingroom has 2 hide-a-bed sofas, satellite TV, VCR and movies. The diningroom has a large table by a picture window. There is a sunroom for storing your snowmobile suits/helmets etc. Also in the lodge are cards, games, puzzles and books. Upstairs are 4 comfy and cozy bedrooms ready made for your great nights sleep. The lodge sleeps 14 people. "The Cubby" has 1 double bed , "The Bears Den" has 1 double bed and 3 twin beds, "Whitetail Haven" has 1 double bed & 1 twin bed, "The Moose Room" has 3 twin beds. There are 2 full bathrooms, one up and one down stairs, both have shampoo and soap as well as towels etc.
The lodge is on 8 acres of wooded land. It has a fire pit and picnic table in the back yard and grill upon request. Across the road from the Lodge is the groomed Bill Nichols Snowmobile trail! Easy access from the lodge and gas is 2 miles down the Trail!
The lodge is located right in the middle of tourist sightseeing. There are mine tours, Lake Superior, the unique town of Copper Harbor, Fort Wilkins, Brockway Drive, Porcupine Mountains, Houghton/Hancock lift bridge, MTU-mineralogical exhibit & museum, fabulous waterfalls, golf courses, State Parks, Beaches, really neat-old train trestles, there are festivals, with parades, fireworks and activities winter and summer. An absolute must for vacationers! Something for everyone!
'The Keweenaw is a unique area, being surrounded by Lake Superior on 3 sides, adds to the beauty. There are several State Parks to explore. Copper Harbor is at the tip of the peninsula and features Fort Wilkins State Park. There are mines that offer tours of the mining days, Museums that share history, Michigan Tech University that has a fantastic mineral exhibit. There are sandy beaches, snow covered hills to ski, trails to snowmobile, Gorgeous color in the fall, Views to take in, Waterfalls to see, cruises up the canal, casinos, theatres, and winter carnival with fireworks.
