You will enjoy total privacy in a fully modernised house but still with its unique atmosphere, overlooking the most magnificent views. Possibility of transfer from/to Porto airport by previous arrangement, as well as guided sightseeing or wine tasting tours throughout Douro Valley’s Port wine producing estates and further up the river to the Foz Coa palaeolitical rock carvings, described by specialists as the biggest outdoor history museum.

The property, with its orange, lemon and olive groves, has been in our family for several generations. The many prints, sketches and photographs lining the walls tell their own history of this Port wine region of Portugal. The property is 70km from the coast and Porto (home of the Port wine cellars and with its town centre designated as a Unesco World Heritage Site).

Prices are for property per week in euros. Payment may be made in euros or £ Sterling. If using £ Sterling please check current exchange rate using our currency conversion and confirm amount with owner.

Changeover day
Saturday.

Accommodation

Bedrooms: 4 bedrooms (3 double and 1 single), all with small verandas with superb river views.
Bathrooms: 2 bathrooms with showers.
Kitchen: Fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, coffee machine, large fridge and freezer.
Living Rooms: Lounge with large fireplace and satellite TV.
Cleaning/towels/linen/maid service: All towels and linen are provided (except pool towels).
Full house cleaning and change of linen done once a week.
Outside
Large swimming pool (10m x 5m) with barbecue area and garden furniture. All weather table tennis.

Coast/Beach
Beaches on the coast at Porto.

Golf
Amarante golf course, 18 hole, 45km.

Travel
The nearest international airport is Porto (70km, 1.5 hour drive) – RyanAir flies directly from Stansted, Liverpool, Dublin, Paris, Frankfurt). Also served daily by BA / TAP from Heathrow and Gatwick; also Air Berlin, Lufthansa
By previous arrangement we can organize transfer from/to the airport at extra cost, in a flexible way including stop in supermarket in the way to our house.
A car is essential during your stay. Hire is available at the airport (best to book when booking flight).

For your comfort we can organize at extra cost transfer from/to airport and tailor-made tours, so that you get to know the best of our beloved valley and its many attractions. Also possible are walking tours, fishing, river cruises, golf – or just staying by the pool gazing at the view.

Rental Policy

Smoking is allowed.
Children are allowed. A Crib and a High Chair can be provided.
Check in after 4:00 PM and check out before 10:00 AM. Check in/out times may be flexible upon request.
No pets allowed (Except for Service Animals).
There is no specific quiet time policy, though guests are asked to be respectful of any neighbours.
No housekeeping is provided during a stay.

Additional Rate and Deposit Information

25% deposit with booking and 75% due 6 weeks before arrival
Negotiable rates for scholars, researchers, writers or artists wishing to stay for longer periods.
