Finca Lucia is a charming country house with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains; the place to go if you are looking for peace and quiet and a chance to relax or to explore this fascinating area. Gardens, grounds and large pool.
Finca Lucia is a lovely old 6 bedroomed country house in a tranquil setting
This is the place to be if you want to relax and unwind. The loudest sound is usually the wind in the trees and the call of the birds like hoopoe and golden oriole. Finca Lucia has a small wood, wildlife areas, olive groves and 12 acres to roam around. There is a large, (12 metre) pool with a terrace alongside, and the shaded terrace at the front of the house is the perfect place to sip a drink or enjoy outdoor eating. If you can drag yourself away from the pool, there are five mountain bikes and miles of tracks to explore. Have a family get together or bring your friends and discover the 'real Spain'. Nearby are beautiful natural parks, water sports on magnificent Lake Negratin, good shops, bars and restaurants, a fantastic Arab cave restaurant and spa, horse riding and lots more.
Finca Lucia is situated in peaceful farmland and olive groves, surrounded by mountains about 5 miles from the historic town of Baza. Nearer is the village of Caniles, which has a pretty park with a bar to enjoy a cool drink and tapas (still given free with every drink). It is near the unspoiled and almost unvisited natural park of Sierra de Baza, where eagles and vultures soar. Spain's largest natural park, Sierra de Cazorla, is also nearby. This is 'the real Spain' with very little tourism, but lots to explore - like the archaeological sites at Gorafe and the 20 kilometre long Lake Negratin, whose waters are usually a fantastic azure blue. The finca is 800 meters above sea level and has a very pleasant, dry climate with low humidity. The coast is just over an hour away, and if you visit it you will pass through Europe's only desert. The city of Granada, with the magnificent Alhambra, beautiful gardens and fascinating old town always receives rave reviews!
Baza is a very ancient town: 2,500 years ago it was an Iberian settlement and since then Romans, Moors and Christians have all left their mark. There are some fascinating old buildings, both in Baza itself and nearby towns like Orce, Guadix and Calahora.
The house has been lovingly restored to maintain the character of an old cortijo, while adding all mod cons! The price is inclusive of gas and electricity and everything is provided except swimming towels.
