Celebrate the Produce of Paso Robles, California

Paso Robles, which means Oaks Pass in English, is a city located in San Luis Obispo County, California. This places it in the lowest third of the state, but north of the large cities of San Diego and Los Angeles. Paso Robles is located inland near the Salinas River and is famed for its hot springs, its many fine wineries, and its role hosting the Mid-State Fair in California.

Local Festivals in Paso Robles

The Zinfandel Festival, held each year in March, is hosted by the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. More than a hundred wineries help to provide an evening of celebration with events taking place throughout the city, including such activities as food pairings, lectures, special wine tastings, and wine dinners. The focus is on the Zinfandel production from the central coast region of California.

For a different spin on agriculture, consider the Olive Festival instead. This event is entirely free and celebrates the emerging local market for olives grown in and around Paso Robles. In addition to a variety of olive oils, tapenades, olives, and dipping sauces, visitors can also try a unique specialty: olive oil ice cream. The festival incorporates music and entertainment as well as a booth from local artists so there is something for everyone.
