Famous Chefs are a Highlight of Napa
Napa refers both to a city and a county located in central California. As the county seat, the city of Napa is home to almost 80,000 permanent residents and has been an incorporated city since the early 1870s. Wine making is a major concern here, but by no means the only thing that draws visitors to the area. Another excellent feature of Napa is the presence of several world class chefs who prepare superb food designed perfectly to match a wide variety of local wines. Visitors who come to stay in Napa vacation rentals can spend their evenings enjoying food prepared in the restaurants owned by several of these chefs.
Perhaps the most famous chef working in Napa is Masaharu Morimoto, who owns the riverfront restaurant Morimoto Napa. This chef is frequently featured on the Iron Chef series on the Food Network, and is the author of The New Art of Japanese Cooking. Guests who dine in Morimoto's restaurant can expect a modern reinterpretation of classic Japanese dishes.
Another Food Network chef working in Napa is Tyler Florence, who has authored such books as Dinner at My Place and Stirring the Pot. Also located along the riverfront is the Tyler Florence: Rotisserie Wine that serves an array of fine vintages produced in the Napa Valley.
Greg Cole, named the best local area chef in 2009, runs a restaurant called the Celadon Cole's Chop House. Cole has earned a place in the prestigious Michelin Guide as well as a Zagat Award of Distinction.
More than 4 million visitors come to the Napa Valley each year.
