Marina del Rey is an ocean side community situated in Los Angeles County. The most impressive feature in Marina del Rey, and indeed, possibly of the entire seashore of the region, is a man-made harbor intended for the mooring and docking of small watercraft. This marina can accommodate more than 5,000 boats at a single time, which makes it one of the biggest mooring areas for small boats in the entire nation. Indeed, according to the Los Angeles Times newspaper, this marina is "perhaps the county's most valuable resource."

Vacation-goers who come to stay in holiday homes in Marina del Rey will find themselves near other beach cities such as Venice and Playa del Rey. From Marina del Rey, it is a simple matter to explore the mouth of Ballona Creek as it empties into the Pacific Ocean.
