Visit the San Andreas Fault in La Quinta

Known to locals as 'the gem of the desert', La Quinta is located in Riverside County, California. Situated in the Coachella Valley, this resort city lies between the cities of Indio and Indian Wells, and boasts some 37,000 permanent inhabitants. According to the Robb Report, La Quinta is the number one golf destination in the country.

Golfing in La Quinta

La Quinta has served as a Mecca for golfers since at least the 1920s when the La Quinta Resort and Club was constructed. Later, it was joined by a course ranked in the top 100 courses in the nation. This latter course was constructed by Tom Fazio, who placed it at The Quarry at La Quinta. This distinctive golf history has continued to grow and expand in La Quinta. As recently as 2008, the SilverRock Golf Resort in the city became the site of one of the four courses that make up the yearly PGA tournament known as the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. The exact course chosen at the SilverLake was the Arnold Palmer Classic Course.

Golf is a primary reason why tourists come to stay in vacation homes in La Quinta, but the nearby Santa Rosa Mountains provide another. The local area provides ample opportunities for hiking along nature trails, but one of the most popular activities for tourists is a jeep tour to see the fault line of the famous San Andreas Fault.
