Annual Events in Huntington Beach
Situated along the seaside of California's Orange County, Huntington Beach has almost 200,000 residents and is the largest beach community in its local area. The coastline in the city has a stretch of almost nine miles and offers excellent surfing because the offshore island of Catalina causes an edge-diffraction effect on the waves rolling into shore.
Tourists booked into Huntington Beach holiday homes should not confuse this beach city with the Huntington Library, an important art gallery that features large gardens and paintings by such notable artists as Rembrandt. Although the Huntington Library can easily be reached from Huntington Beach, it is located in San Marino, a city situated in nearby Los Angeles County.
Huntington Beach Events Calendar
Many beach events are held in the city during the warm and welcoming summer months. One of the most popular is the U.S. Open of Surfing, which takes place on the southern side of the city pier. In July, there is a combined swimming and running event known as a biathlon. This event begins at dawn at the Santa Ana River and takes participants all the way to Bolsa Chica State Beach.
Another popular summer event is the Fourth of July Parade, held in Huntington Beach each year for more than a century. September brings with it the chance to enjoy the SoCal Independent Film Festival and in the winter, visitors can marvel at the Cruise of Lights Boat Tour and the yearly Kite Festival, the latter taking place in February.
