See the Stars in Hollywood

Hollywood is a name known all over the world, but contrary to popular perception, it is not a city in its own right but rather a district in the city of Los Angeles, California. Located northwest of the downtown area, Hollywood has served for generations as the "entertainment capital of the world.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame

Hollywood celebrates this heritage with its "Walk of Fame, which refers to a long section of Hollywood Boulevard that has had large brass stars embedded in the sidewalk on both sides of the street. Most tourists staying in vacation homes in Hollywood take at least part of one day to stroll this boulevard and admire the many stars, each of which is inscribed with the name of a celebrity along with icons indicating what the person is being honored for.

Grauman's Chinese Theatre

Another attraction not to be missed is Grauman's Chinese Theatre, which takes a personal approach to commemorating celebrities. For decades, the stars of the silver screen have been invited to leave their handprints and signatures in wet cement here.

The Hollywood Wax Museum

Visitors to Hollywood may in fact see some actual celebrities during their visit, but one place where 'sightings' can be guaranteed is the Hollywood Wax Museum, open since 1965 but refurbished in 2006 to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

Classic stars including Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne, and Judy Garland are on display here, but the museum is also kept up to date with sets celebrating the 100 best movies of all time, some of which are quite recent. These include Titanic, Spider-Man, Men in Black, and Forrest Gump.
