Castro Valley Lakes and Creeks
Castro Valley is a large community located in Alameda County, California. This places it in the 'East Bay' region of the San Francisco Bay region, but Castro Valley is remarkable because it is a mountain area with a distinct country feel to it, even though it is only a stone's throw from this highly urbanized area of the state. For example, the San Lorenzo Creek has its watershed in the hills in eastern Castro Valley; this is also the location where several other creeks such as Eden Creek and Norris Creek originate.
Although residents of Castro Valley do not live far from the coastline, all of Alameda County is located inland, so the biggest attractions consist more of lakes and rivers than of ocean, although the beach is within easy driving distance if visitors staying in vacation homes in Castro Valley wish to see the vast Pacific Ocean. In all, there are more than 60,000 people living in Castro Valley.
Lake Chabot
One of the area's attractions is Lake Chabot, which is situated to the north of the town. In addition to the boating and fishing that is available on the lake in amble measure, locals like to enjoy the hiking trails in the lake's vicinity. There is a lovely six-mile walk that one can do which takes you past a duck pond and a marina. Along the way, you will find yourself in the midst of local plants and wildlife.
