Beverly Hills: Home to Stars of Stage and Screen
Most Americans are familiar with Beverly Hills from the large number of films and television shows that are set in this Southern California city. The Beverly Hillbillies and the Beverly Hills Cop series of motion pictures are just the tip of the iceberg.
Although located in the major metropolitan area of greater Los Angeles, Beverly Hills itself is a mid-sized city of only about 35,000 permanent residents. The name of the city aside, most residents live in areas of flat land in this incorporated city. Beverly Hills is famous for being the home of many current and former celebrities.
A favorite tourist attraction for tourists staying in vacation rentals in Beverly Hills is to take bus tours that bring them around to see some of these famous homes, with many tours also taking tourists into nearby Hollywood. Another must-see attraction in the city is a street known as Rodeo Drive, which is renowned as one of the most exclusive shopping districts in the world. This street was heavily featured in the film Pretty Woman.
Like much of Southern California, Beverly Hills has a lovely climate officially classed as Mediterranean. This means that temperatures are relatively warm even in the winter, making the city a wonderful place to visit all year long. Although it rains sporadically in Beverly Hills, with precipitation averaging less than 20 inches each year, snowfall occurs only rarely, having been seen only a handful of times in the last century.
