Stuttgart - Rice and Duck Hunting Capital of the World!
Posted by Joseph Land on Saturday, February 23, 2008
Stuttgart is dominated by flat farmland, used primarily to grow rice. The rice feeds the migrating ducks and geese during the winter months as they are driven through the area down from Canada, providing great waterfowl hunting, and for those not out for the kill some amazing birdwatching. Stuttgart is about half-way between both Little Rock and Memphis, making it a great locale to stay if one wants to visit the city, but not be forced to stay in it. To the east of Stuttgart is the White River, and the White River Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge is the home of a huge variety of wildlife, and especially birds, making birdwatching very popular in the area. The Ivory-billed Woodpecker, a bird thought to be extinct for the last 50 years has been recently rediscovered in Arkansas. The areas near Stuttgart, and especially the White River are prime for trying to spot one. If you are looking for a place with beautiful scenery and even better people then Stuttgart is the place to go!
