Lovely red-tiled XVIIth century villa Le Cros is for the real lover of Provence.The descendant of the family, while still preserving its original soul, has just entirely refurbished it.Located in a quiet residential street of the old village of Le Cannet, above Cannes, it is only 3 km from the Croisette and a 10-mn drive to the beaches and Mounts of Estérel.It is laid out over three levels and has kept its old wash-place, winepress, preserves cupboard, terracotta boiler. It enjoys a quaint garden of olive- orange - and tangerine-trees.The second floor has sea-views on Cannes from all the rooms.There are two rooms each with two single beds transformable into one king-size bed each. The first room has a large bathroom en suite with bath and hair-dryer; the second has a washbasin in a cupboard. The large Italian sofa in the drawing room can sleep two more (king-size).A vast shower room with massage shower was created in January 2006.The house has all modern amenities + ADSL, Satellite TV.
Le Cannet, also called France's Madeira, is an old historical town between Mougins and Vallauris, on the hill overlooking the bay of Cannes : it has much to offer in terms of artistic life and has been the haunt of famous painters, especially Pierre Bonnard who is buried there (a Musée Bonnard will open in the Spring of 2007). It is for tourists who want to experience the genuine local life, the historical sites and get a taste of the local folklore in addition to visiting the French Riviera. The owner of the villa is a descendant of the 140 Ligurian families who, in the 15th century, came from Italy at the invitation of the monks of the Iles de Lerins (off Cannes) to cultivate their orange-trees. The genealogical tree on Place Bellevue still bears testimony to the adventure of the foundation of the village.
