A private writer's retreat, this cozy two-bedroom just a short walk to the beach with a lush yard complete with a hammock between swaying palms. Beautifully decorated with a recently updated kitchen, this unique island home makes a great escape.

Property Details

Twin Palms Cottage is thoroughly private and offers a special character and charm. We love the intimate feel of the Cottage; all you can see from the many windows is the lush outside landscaping. It makes you feel like you're in a private tropical oasis. It's just a short walk to the beach (about 300 meters). We recently remodeled this 900-square foot unit and upgraded the kitchen and living areas to create a comfortable, open space. The kitchen belongs to a chef, and it shows with top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances and high-quality cookware. You'll find plenty of spices and the like to cook with, and we always supply some coffee, tea and milk for your first couple of days on the island.

There's a Great room with an open kitchen with custom bamboo countertops and a large apron sink. As one of the owners is a chef and food writer, it's well equipped with quality cookware, knives, spices and so on. The living room has comfortable classic bamboo and rattan furniture. A huge, sturdy coffee table offers a place to relax, play games or eat. A brand-new 27-inch flat-screen TV with DVD/VCR player is hidden in a beautiful, dark wood cabinet from Indonesia. The cottage features tiled floors throughout, with quality rugs offering a bit of comfort under the feet.

The bedrooms are separated by sliding wood French doors. The two bedrooms are to one side of the house, making them very quiet and private. One we call the "garden" bedroom has two walls of windows -- you can see nothing but lush greenery and palms. The other bedroom, the "Patio" bedroom has its own private sun deck through sliding glass doors. Both bedrooms have brand new Sealy Posturpedic queen-sized beds with down duvets, down pillows and 300+ quality linens. The backyard has a wonderful hammock strung between two palm trees, plus a private tiki gazebo. There's another patio deck off one of the bedrooms. A boat dock that comes with the house, just a few blocks away. You can launch kayaks from there, fish or even rent your own boat and keep it there during your stay.

Twin Palms Cottage is located on Anna Maria Island, a beautiful barrier island known for its spectacular white sand beaches and slow island life. The island is about a two-hour drive to Orlando/Disney resorts so it's close, but not too close.

The Cottage has high-efficiency air-conditioning, high-speed wireless internet service, high-capacity washer and dryer, cable TV with 90+ channels, brand new DVD and VCR with a video library of 30+ titles. We also supply beach toys, umbrellas, chairs and beach towels.

Children are more than welcome; we have a high chair, folding crib, toys and other kid needs, so please inquire on availability.

This unit is adjacent to Twin Palms, which sleeps six. Rented together, they can sleep 10 people in beds.

Rental Policies

We require a 14-day minimum rental, altough we'll consider shorter bookings as last-minute or during the summer or autumn. (Weekly stays subject to a higher rate.) Areas are set up for smoking outside, smoking is not allowed in the house. Due to owner allergies, we cannot accommodate any pets.

Arrival Times

Check-in is at 4 p.m. on day of arrival, check out is at 11 a.m. unless otherwise arranged. Arrival day is flexible.

Rental Rates

$835.00 to $958.00 per week
$2,350.00 to $3,250.00 per month

Additional Rate and Deposit Information

Minimum rental is 14 days, shorter stays considered in summer, autumn or as late bookings. Weekly bookings will be subjected to a higher rate, so please inquire. See our web site for availability calendar.

For the rest of 2006, $1,650 month, $1,050 14 days

Jan to April 2007: $2,450 month, $1,650 fortnight/14 days

May to Aug 2007: $2.250 month, $1.450 fortnight/14 days

Sept to Dec 2007: $1,950 month, $1,250 fortnight/14 days

We require an $80 cleaning fee, deposit required (dependent on length of stay). All utilities included. A wonderful local manager is only four blocks away, managing only this property. All bookings subject to local tax (4% resort tax, 6.5% sales tax). Check-in is 4 p.m. day of arrival and check-out is 11 a.m. day of departure unless otherwise arranged in advance.

This property is attached to Twin Palms, also listed on this site. Both can be rented to accommodate up to 10. A 5% discount will be applied to total rental costs when reserving both together.
