The coast is ideal for families and dogs [all beaches allow dogs in certain regions all year round] ranging from the rocks and rock pools of Watermouth Cove to the wide sandy expanses of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton beaches.
Within a mile of Watermouth people can enjoy long coastal and woodland walks, fishing – sea, fly and course, swimming and playing golf. Boats can be parked at Watermouth Harbour and use made of the slipway. Surfing is becoming the main sport and kite flying.
Within just a few minutes drive there is horse riding, karting and diving. There are numerous arts and craft shops, museums and railways. Exmoor is also a haven for wildlife where visitors may see the famed wild ponies, red deer and birds of prey - you can even take a safari. Exmoor is also Lorna Doone country and you can visit many places described in R D Blackmoor's tale.
